Black Bauer Tracy Irwin design gladiola vase/jar is a rare example of California mid-century modern pottery from the late 1950's. Labeled #516 in the Bauer Florist and Gardenware catalog of 1962, the vase is large size - 10 inches high - with a 4 inch diameter base, and an approximately 6.25 inch diameter at the widest point. The opening is approximately 5.625 inches in diameter, perfect for fresh cut flowers or cherry blossom sprigs. The glaze is the highly sought after satin-matte black finish with deep color that pairs well with reds.
The three pictures from the side show all visible sides of the vase. The photos of the reproduction catalog show a similar vase as it was originally advertised. There is a spot of some kind on the middle third, and what looks like sticker residue near the bottom. Please contact me with any further questions. Stamped BAUER on the bottom. No visible cracks or chips.
