It is a decorative plate with hardware on the back so it may be displayed on the wall. The colors have a brilliant sheen, and the glazes mix in very beautiful design. It is signed and dated on the back of the plate (see photos). Located in the pristine beauty of Orcas Island in the San Juan Archipelago of Washington State, Orcas Island Pottery is the oldest studio pottery in the Pacific Northwest, and creates and sells some of the most original and beautiful pottery in the Northwestern United States. Condition: Excellent - no chips, cracks or repairs. The back of the plate (specifically on the base) has some minor scuff marks consistent with age and use (see photos). As this is a handmade piece of pottery, there are minor irregularities in the glaze. Dimensions: 12.75 inches in diameter; 2.5 inches in height. It weighs almost 4 pounds alone.
