Here is a beautiful Rookwood Pottery Painted Matt vase done by Albert Valentien in 1900. It has a very nice arts & crafts shape with a spray of purple violets and green leaves against a shaded blue-green ground.

Painted Mattes are rare and were only done for a short while because the glazes tended to run. This piece is perfectly fired, with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. It measures about 5 3/4 inches tall and 4 7/8 inches in diameter at the widest. Marked with the RP die-stamp, all the flames and no Roman numeral for 1900, and shape # 881D.
