Rare Kenton Hills Porcelain Lamp Base / Vase - American Arts & Crafts - Rookwood. Circa 1940 - Erlanger, Kentucky. Fine and rare Kenton Hills Porcelain factory made, vase-form lamp base. Signed with the Kenton Hills impressed mark, the number 153, and something handwritten, under the glaze. (may be numbers or an artist signature - see photos).
Beautifully decorated with a very stylized design of floral blossoms and leaves on a fine blue ground. Very much in the style of Rookwood pottery and very attractive. This piece is not a drilled vase, but a factory-made lamp base with the hole on the bottom made before the piece was glazed. Kenton Hills Porcelain pieces are rare as they were only in production for less than five years.
They made many lamp bases and this is a fine example of their work. Small, original glazed-over factory flaw at the bottom rim (see photos).Some rust stains on the unglazed foot (from the original metal base). This piece will be a quality addition to any collection of American Art Pottery and will display beautifully in any decor: Arts and Crafts, Stickley Era, Art Deco, Eames Era, Shabby Chic, or Contemporary.
