She learnt her craft by attending numerous workshops, gradually developing a hand built aesthetic with deeply textured surfaces. In 1976, she was awarded the Lane Cove Art Exhibition Ceramic Prize for a large, hand built, multi-spouted form. In 1986, she completed a Certificate of Ceramics at Brookvale TAFE and began teaching part-time at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre, Roseville, as well as setting up her own pottery business in Thornleigh, NSW. In the mid-1990s she produced a series of Ned Kelly Tea Sets, with surfaces like corrugated iron and a black pewter glaze.

In 2002, she started making Jugs with Attitude using different textural surfaces for each jug. In recent years, she has also started using crystalline glazes.

She has been a member of the Ceramic Study Group Inc. And the North Shore Craft Group and was Vice President of the Potter's Society of Australia for two years.

A retrospective exhibition of her work, "The Ripples of Time - Celebrating 20 years" was held at Bancroft Gallery, Roseville, in 2007. Her work may be marked with a painted'N' or'Nicky', sometimes with a curlicue.
