GORGEOUSLY DETAILED DISC SHAPED FISH SEED POT WITH MINUTELY FINE DETAIL MATA ORTIZ POTTERY BY THE FAMOUS 2ND GENERATION MASTER POTTER MIRIHAM GALLEGOS MUSEUM QUALITY CUADRICULA SQUARES PATTERN EYE DAZZLER POT WITH THREE SYMMETRICAL FISH DESIGN! Miriham Gallegos is one of the most inspirational women that I know.. A fine artist and an exemplary person! Miriham was at the top of our list to visit on our first trip to Mata Ortiz, and one of the principal motivations for our trip. Unfortunately on that occasion, Miriham was in Phoenix undergoing treatment for cancer. She fought hard and made much progress, and is now back home creating her very fine pottery. She is a fine example of overcoming the obstacles that life puts in our path, and a beautiful strong example for her children. As we are major fans of miniature work, Miriham's pottery really calls to us. This particular pot is no exception. There is such precision in the finely painted detail of the cuadricula pattern of tiny precision squares that is traditional to the Gallegos Family, one of the original families of Master Potters in Mata Ortiz. The cuadricula pattern has become popular in the village, but Miriham is the absolute master of this style.

We also really like her Mimbres animal patterns, but she says that these tiny precise squares are by far the hardest to accomplish with a paint brush made of long strands of human hair, as is traditional with Mata Ortiz pottery. Then she has arranged this traditional design pattern into three symmetrical fish that wrap around the pot.
