In 1911 he made his debut at the Fall Exhibition. SK was a magician who worked with a material he sometimes found difficult to tame, but perhaps therefore resulting in works that exudes a particular strength. It was a goal for SK to get the glaze to resemble nature's strength, eg. Rime frost, gull eggs and the like. Kongstrand was especially famous for his luster glazes.
