This is an amazing signed'SEY' and numbered'107/250' ceramic stoneware Raccoon made by John Seymour. See photo of the tail for a visual of the numbering. The raccoon is almost life-like in size measuring 9" H and10.5" body length (nose to tail). Both his back and front legs measure 5" W but overall Width is 7" due to the curved body.
Seymour was born in Eger, Hungary in 1920 and after moving to the US he owned and operated his own studio in New Milford, CT. Seymour studied at the Royal Hungarian Poly Institute, New York University, the School of Visual Arts and Greenwich House Pottery School. He has been widely exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and abroad and is best known for his brown pottery animal statues. This is a beautiful piece of art, in very good condition with no chips, cracks etc..
