The art pottery studio'Igor' was founded in the 1950s by Andrea Gerbino and Ignazio Orifici in Santo Stefano di Camastra, in the province of Messina, Italy. The town Santo Stefano di Camastra itself is known to have developed as a result of the high quality and handmade Sicilian art pottery produced there. The art pottery was typically decorated with decor taken from the island's ancient tradition of painting Sicilian carts, which have become famous worldwide. The IGOR studio specialized in crafting tableware and tiles in the Majolica décor but like many of the skilled potters and ceramists from the town, they also produced hand-built, one-of-a-kind art pottery pieces. The studio remained active until 1970 and hosted numerous artists including Tono Zancanaro during the 1950s.
