MAGNIFICENT EXAMPLE OF CYNTHIA MITCHELL AUSTRALIAN POTTERY. Presenting a stunning Australian pottery figural owl shaped ocarina masterfully hand crafted and signed by the renowned Tasmanian artist, Cynthia Mitchell.

This exceptional example has been expertly crafted into the wonderfully stylised form of an owl. Not only is this piece a stunning sculptural display item, it is also masterfully designed to function as an ocarina, with the tip of the tail functioning as the mouthpiece and five holes to the sides creating a toned whistle. This beautifully crafted piece has a sleekly stylised form with raised curved feathers covering the body. Fabulous large eyes with central oxide red glazed pupils surrounded with inscribed sgraffito starbursts create an endearing face. Impressed designs adorn the chest of the bird.

This piece stands proudly atop two well formed feet. This superb example has been finished in a glossy sage green glaze with darker tones adding fabulous definition to the design. The glazes blend and combine to create a striking range of mottled tones. The oxide red eyes look truly spectacular set against the sage green body.

This is a masterfully crafted piece with an exceptional colourway. SIZE: This piece stands approx 165mms tall, measures 100mms in width and 130mms in depth. CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This piece has been exceptionally well cared for and cannot be faulted. MARKS: This piece is beautifully marked to the base of the feet with Cynthia Mitchells impressed "CM" seal along with the impressed "T" mark for Tasmania.
