American made and just exquisite Art Deco design on this VINTAGE CERAMIC ARTS STUDIO FIGURINE "TRAGEDY". Ceramic Arts Studio, Madison, Wisconsin was a prestigious company making high end ceramic molded figurines. The plant closed in 1955 making these pieces highly collectible. In a glossy white gown that drapes and reveals the "actresses" form. Designed by the company's principal designer/modeler, BETTY HARRINGTON, former Secretary of State of Wisconsin--and one of her most popular and famous designs!

Ceramic Arts Studio introduced Comedy and Tragedy in 1950. The face is expertly painted and full of expression and emotion and the head covering adds interest and depth.

Approximate height of each figurine is 10.25 and approx. This lovely figurine has the Ceramic Arts Studio, Madison WI.

Mark on the bottom along with the assigned name "TRAGEDY". This figure came from the estate of a ceramics collector and was housed in a display case behind glass. The only fault that I can find is a tiny chip at the very top of the mask that she is holding. The tiny chip has been touched-up The left arm has some spots that are a slight discoloration which is difficult to see.

This may have been a defect in manufacturing. This is an extremely RARE collectible Vintage CERAMICS ARTS STUDIO Figurine. This piece will enhance any decor and would be a great gift for a drama instructor, figurine collector or decorative arts aficionado.
