NUDE EVE EDEN SCULPTURE ART POTTERY OLIVE CERAMIC EUGENE FRILEY TABLE LAMP 1950s. DESIGN: A sculpturally bold yet elegant Folk Art styled Pottery 4-panel Sculptured story illustration Olive Green glaze ceramic table lamp designed by Eugene Friley who was a Professor at Ohio University post WWII and had a reputation as a successful artisan of the region. The hefty cube shaped ceramic body is adorned with 4 different 3-dimensional scenes titled "The Tree of Life" by the artist depicting a "Garden of Eden" storyline with a nude Eve, Adam although he looks more like God? , Eden & apple tree and the tempting snake.
Its' sculptural surfaces are glazed with a beautiful light Olive Green gloss that heightens their dimensions dramatically. Completed with Brass trim which mounts a contemporary natural Burlap shade that compliments the shape and glaze perfectly while casting an ideal ambience upon its shapely form. Artists signed "Friley" on bottom as well as hand written titled "Tree of Life" document which was attached to base bottom that I have removed for protection and is included with the lamp. CONDITION : This striking and unique Sculptured Art Pottery table lamp is in exceptional condition, completely intact and fully functional.The classic 4 sided form base with its' glossy pale Olive glaze shows no real signs of use or age and is free of any damage. The natural Burlap fabric shade is a perfect contemporary replacement for the original and casts an ideal ambiance to the sculpted form. The 3-way socket and power cord have been inspected to be clean, safe and functional. DIMENSIONS: The lamps general dimensions are 24" tall with an overall width of 4.5" square to the base, the shade is 17" diameter x 11" highbulb is NOT included.
