Large Claude Conover Rare Studio Art Modern Floor Vase Signed Original
Conover received his training at the Cleveland Institute of Art and began working in that city. By the 1960s, he was devoting himself to stoneware production in his studio. This museum quality signed Claude Conover vase is from the early seventies.
It is one of his largest floor vases and is free of flaws. The majority of Conovers works are variations on a single round form a vase or vessel with curved body and narrow neck. He did not make these on a pottery wheel but constructed them from rolled clay slabs, patted by hand and smoothed into place.
