Vintage Royal Crown North Carolina Pottery Floor Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this wonderful piece of vintage North Carolina art pottery. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This handthrown pot has a beautiful green glaze with minor areas of ochre; there are stately applied handles to either side. The vase is approximately 15 3/4 inches tall, with a maximum width of about 9 1/2 inches. It weighs 9 pounds 7.1 ounces, unpacked. It would be a great addition to a collection of southern folk art. Identification This vintage vase was made in Merry Oaks, North Carolina at the Royal Crown Pottery (circa 1939 to 1942). It has a Royal Crown ink mark beneath, as shown in Photo 5. Condition This piece looks very good overall, with no cracks or chips, and very light wear.

There are a few small and minor dark scuff marks. As made, there are variations in glazing; also as made, there is a 1/8 inch glazed-over indent to the side (visible in Photo 2, left of center, about 1/3 down from rim), along with a few, scattered, tiny dimples.
